Two Structures of Solid Cages for Cylindrical Roller Bearings

Edit:Shandong Yunhua Bearing Co., Ltd. Time:2023-06-12

The main materials used for metal solid cages are brass and bronze alloys, as well as cast iron and steel. There are two main types of structures: split type and integral type. The difference between split type structures is mostly in the connection method; The difference between integral structures is reflected in the improvement of bearing friction, operation, and load-bearing performance. Due to the fact that the split type cage needs to be integrated to achieve its functions, the split is mainly considered for process convenience, and there is still an issue of unreliable split connection. Therefore, with the progress of process technology, the application of the overall cage will be increasing.

1: Split type holder

1: Split pillar riveted holder

The split type pillar riveting cage is composed of a half cage, a baffle, and rivets, generally guided by rollers, as shown in the above figure. The half cage and baffle are generally made of copper, and the rivets are generally made of low-carbon steel. This structural cage cylindrical roller bearing is commonly used and has advantages such as low friction, low temperature rise, low noise, high strength, and easy processing. It is suitable for high-speed and heavy-duty working conditions. The disadvantage is that the presence of rivet holes weakens the strength of the cage, and improper riveting can cause looseness.

2: Split type self riveting cage

The split type self riveting cage is composed of a half cage and a blocking plate. The end of the half cage beam is equipped with a riveting joint, and the blocking plate is equipped with riveting holes, which can achieve self riveting without the need for rivets, as shown in the above figure. The structure of this cage is similar to that of a split pillar riveted cage, with similar technical principles and application characteristics. The difference lies in the connection method of the split cage.

3: Pillar type holder

The pillar type cage of cylindrical roller bearings is connected together through a pillar, as shown in the above figure. One end of the pillar is threaded, one end is screwed onto a cage retaining ring, passes through a hollow roller, and the other end is welded to the other cage retaining ring. Sometimes, in heavy-duty applications, both ends of the pillar need to be welded. When the cage is designed as a pillar type, it can accommodate a large number of rollers and has a high load-bearing capacity. It is generally used for large bearings, such as rolling mill bearings.

2: Integral holder

1: Integral straight window hole holder

The structure of the integral straight window hole holder is shown in the above figure. The cage is generally guided by the outer or inner ring, and the straight window hole is equipped with a locking point to lock the roller. Compared with split type cages, integral type cages have higher strength and work more reliably, but the machining difficulty is relatively high. Window holes generally need to be broached.

2. Integral arc corner window hole holder

The structure of the integral arc angle window hole holder is shown in the above figure. Due to the circular arc surface on the inner surface of the lintel, it is convenient for roller guidance and lubrication, but it increases the difficulty of processing. This structure mainly avoids interference between the corner of the perforated lintel and the rollers, reducing stress concentration at the corner and facilitating lubrication.

3. Comb shaped cage for double and four row cylindrical roller bearings

The commonly used cages for double and four row cylindrical roller bearings are single claw comb shaped cages and double claw comb shaped cages. The double claw comb shaped cages can be loaded into two rows of rollers, which are arranged alternately between the two rows of rollers; A single claw comb shaped cage requires two combinations, which is equivalent to a double claw cage being radially cut open. Small and medium-sized precision double row cylindrical roller bearings generally use a single claw cage; Double claw cages are generally used for medium to large bearings.
